April 24 Probable Pitchers And Opening MLB Odds

April 24 Probable Pitchers And Opening MLB Odds

The Yankees' Michael Pineda has never faced the Mets in his career and he faces quite the challenge in Game 1 of the Subway Series on Friday as the Mets go for a team-record 12th straight win. Here's every game on Friday in order of start time with BetOnline odds. Braves LHP Alex Wood at Phillies RHP Aaron Harang (+100, 7): Wood worked into the seventh and allowed three earned runs or less in each of his last two outings, but wound up with a no-decision in both. The southpaw didn't strike anyone out in his last start, but he fanned seven against the Mets on April 12. Harang has been one of the few bright spots for the Phillies. He has given his team a chance to win in each of his first three starts, including Saturday's victory over the Nationals, when he allowed three runs in six innings. Red Sox RHP Rick Porcello at Orioles RHP Miguel Gonzalez (-116, 8.5): Porcello's season was going fine until he faced the Orioles. And now he'll do it again, this time on the road. Porcello gave up 12 hits and eight earned runs in five innings on Sunday in an 8-3 loss to Baltimore at Fenway. Gonzalez won his second consecutive start Sunday, striking out five and walking four while limiting the Red Sox to three runs over five innings. Mets RHP Jacob deGrom at Yankees RHP  Michael Pineda (-117, 7): The reigning Rookie of the Year deGrom has been flawless since allowing a first-inning home run in his season debut, and he currently owns a 18 1/3 scoreless-innings streak after topping the Marlins his last time out. Pineda battled through 5 2/3 innings Sunday to pick up his second win of the season, limiting the Rays to three runs. This will be Pineda's first career start against the Mets, and he has only faced two of their current hitters. Indians RHP Danny Salazar at Tigers RHP Shane Greene (-139, 8): Salazar was dominant in his season debut, throwing six innings with 10 K's in a 4-2 victory over the Twins. Salazar gave up two runs, but the second scored on a solo homer by Kurt Suzuki in the seventh inning. Salazar left with a two-run lead. Not since Frank Tanana in 1988 has a Tiger won his first four starts to open a season. Greene can do that, but he'll have to quiet an Indians lineup that offers up plenty of left-handed hitters, who challenged Greene last year. Cubs LHP  Jon Lester at Reds RHP Mike Leake (+100, 7.5): Lester is still searching for his first Cubs win. This will be his first start ever at Great American Ball Park, but his second vs. the Reds in '15. He did not get a decision April 13 at Wrigley, giving up six runs over six innings. Leake has improved in each of his three starts but does not have victory to show for it. In his last start, he was saddled with a complete-game loss vs. St. Louis, despite giving up just two earned runs on four hits. Blue Jays RHP R.A. Dickey at Rays LHP Drew Smyly (-117, 7.5): Dickey's streak of nine straight quality starts came to an end in the Blue Jays' win over the Braves on Saturday. The 40-year-old knuckleballer surrendered two homers and walked four in a no-decision. Smyly will make his first start of the season after leaving Spring Training on the disabled list with left shoulder tendinitis. Smyly went 3-1 with a 1.70 ERA in seven starts with the Rays last year. Nationals RHP Jordan Zimmermann at Marlins RHP Mat Latos (-102, 7.5): Zimmermann, an All-Star each of the Past two seasons, has been knocked around in each of his past two starts. He gave up seven earned runs to Boston two starts ago and allowed four runs -- two were earned -- against Philadelphia on Saturday. Latos comes off another tough loss, giving up two runs with five strikeouts in five innings at the Mets. But down two runs, he was lifted for a pinch-hitter. In his career, Latos is 3-2 with a 2.66 ERA vs. Nationals. Royals LHP Danny Duffy at White Sox LHP Jose Quintana (-103, 8): Duffy is 1-1 with a 3.72 ERA all-time at U.S. Cellular Field. But he's has some bad memories there -- it was at Cellular in 2012 when he lasted just two-thirds and later learned he would need Tommy John surgery. On Sunday against the Tigers, Quintana gave up a career-high nine earned runs in just four-plus innings of work, covering 93 pitches, which included 42 in the first inning. He went to seven full-counts and allowed two home runs. Cardinals RHP Carlos Martinez at Brewers RHP Matt Garza (+117, 7.5): Since winning a rotation job, Martinez has shown himself a more complete pitcher by complementing his fastball with a nice changeup-slider mix and also pulling back on velocity in order to improve command and stamina. Garza emerged from Spring Training excited about his rediscovered slider, but he has struggled in the regular season and has a disappointing ratio of strikeouts (nine) to walks (nine). Giants RHP Chris Heston at Rockies RHP Eddie Butler (-116, 10): This start could challenge Heston. Not just because of the Rockies' lineup, which is always more formidable at Coors Field, but mainly because he'll have to adjust to pitching at altitude, which could hamper the movement on his deliveries. Butler threw just five innings Sunday in a loss to the Dodgers, but in a sense it was an improvement. He walked just one and gave up two runs on six hits, and left due to an offensive substitution. Pirates RHP Gerrit Cole at Diamondbacks RHP  Josh Collmenter (+123, 8): In his young career, Cole has garnered a reputation as a big September pitcher, and this time the dominance has spilled over into a new season. He'll be seeking his seventh straight victory in a place he hasn't pitched before. Collmenter, who made his first career Opening Day start this year, was outstanding in his last start against the Giants. He tossed a four-hitter, the first shutout in the Majors this year, in a 9-0 Arizona win at AT&T Park. Astros LHP Dallas Keuchel at A's LHP Scott Kazmir (-134, 7): The Astros have won Keuchel's last eight starts since Aug. 26, 2014. He's posted a 1.62 ERA in that span. He has 10 quality starts in a row since Aug. 15, 2014 - the longest streak in Majors - going 4-1 with a 2.04 ERA in that span. Kazmir has completed six innings in each of his starts, and has struck out nearly four times as many batters (23) as he's walked (6). He gave up just four hits over 13 innings in his first two starts, then allowed six in a no-decision vs. KC. Rangers LHP Wandy Rodriguez at Angels RHP Garrett Richards (-181, 7.5): The veteran Rodriguez will make his season and Rangers debut on Friday. Rodriguez, who has allowed only two runs on four hits for Triple-A Round Rock this season, still has a fastball in the 88-91 mph range. Richards gave up four runs (three earned) on five hits and four walks in five innings in his return against the Astros on Sunday, striking out four. The 26-year-old showed good stuff and wasn't hit hard, but didn't get much defense behind him. Dodgers RHP Zack Greinke at Padres RHP Andrew Cashner (+111, 6.5): Greinke has won each of his past two starts and posted an impressive 14-to-2 strikeout-to-walk ratio in his first 19 2/3 innings of the year. He allowed a run over six innings against the Padres on April 7. Cashner, who hasn't allowed an earned run in his last 12 innings, gets another crack at the Dodgers. In his first start of the season, he allowed three home runs to Adrian Gonzalez. He's mixed his slider and changeup in more of late. Twins RHP Phil Hughes at Mariners RHP Felix Hernandez (-196, 6.5): Last time out, Hughes was one out away from a solid outing, but couldn't get through the seventh against the Indians. He allowed two runs that inning, and ended up giving up four runs on eight hits over 6 2/3 innings in a loss. Hernandez improved to 2-0 after a gem of an outing in a 3-1 win over the Rangers. Hernandez struck out 12 in seven innings, the 112th time he's allowed two earned runs or less while pitching at least seven innings.
