Tuesday MLB Handicapping Betting Board Reveals Slim Pickings
During our handicapping research of the Tuesday Major League Baseball schedule, we found some pretty slim pickings up on the betting board. This is one of those rare nights when the majority of the MLB pitching studs are on an off day. It’s also a night where many of the leagues cellar dwellers are batting each other and we aren’t big fans of betting on donkeys. That said, we do like the Orioles vs. Twins tussle tonight.
Baltimore Orioles Look To Snap Out Of Recent Slump
After a hot start to the 2012 MLB season, the Baltimore Orioles have cooled considerably lately. Back on June 18, the Orioles were 39-28 and just 2.5 games back of the New York Yankees in the mighty American League East. Following a 19-7 beat down in Minnesota on Monday night, Baltimore has lost 16 of 23 games to fall nine games off the lead in the AL East. They have also fallen a half game out of the AL wild card race.
Minnesota Battles To Stay Out Of American League Cellar
To say that it’s been a long season in Minnesota would be an understatement. The Twins, at 37-52, are in a virtual tie with the Seattle Mariners (38-53) as they “battle” for the American League basement. Minnesota sits a respectable 14th in overall in team hitting but they are 29th in pitching with a 5.04 team ERA. Scott Diamond is the top hurler for Minnesota with a 7-3 record – no other Twins starter has more than four wins.
Orioles vs. Twins: Sportsbook Bonus Game Day Prediction
We already discussed the Yankees over the Blue Jays as our daily best bet over at CanadianSportsbooks.ca, but we like the fact that Baltimore gets one of their more steady young pitchers back on the bump tonight. LHP Zach Britton went 11-11 but tired dramatically down the stretch in his rookie season last year.
This will be the 24-year-olds first start in 2012 and we expect him to fire up the Orioles as they get back on track tonight. As such, we’ll be backing Baltimore at +1.5 (-210) at the topbet.com online sportsbook!
