The AFC South is a division of the National Football League (NFL) that was created in time for the 2002 season when the league realigned divisions after it expanded to 32 teams. Since its creation, the AFC South has had the same four members in it, namely Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Tennessee Titans. The Texas did not exist before the 2002, both the Titans and Jaguars belonged to AFC Central, while the Colts were a member of the AFC East.
With a total of nine AFC South titles, the Indianapolis Colts are the most successful team of the division. Up until the start of the 2016 season, the Colts hold a lifetime record of 494-433-7, two NFL league crowns, and two Super Bowl wins from four appearances.
In fact, the Colts are the only AFC South team to have won a Super Bowl, doing so in 2006 when they defeated the Chicago bears 29-17 in Florida.
More recently, it was the Houston Texans who won the AFC South title with a 9-7-0 record in 2015, beating the Colts by a single game (8-8-0) for their third title and their first since 2012.
The AFC South has some of the best players in the NFL competing in it, including Defensive End of the Texans J.J. Watt, the Quarterback of the Colts Andrew Luck, and the Wide Receiver of the Texans DeAndre Hopkins.

What Are The AFC South Standings Today
Pundits seem to agree that the Indianapolis Colts will win the AFC South (+130) from the Houston Texans (+225), the Jacksonville Jaguars (+250), with the Tennessee Titans (+1100) bringing up the rear.
How accurate are those predictions? Let us take a look at the AFC South standings as they are this very instant.
How To Make Money Betting On AFC South
The Indianapolis Colts are the favorites to win the AFC South division with odds of +130. Last season, the Colts ended 8-8-0 despite finding themselves second-bottom of the AFC in terms of offensive and defensive yardage.
Offense should drastically increase with Andrew Luck returning from injury. In 2014, Luck had a rating of 96.5 and played all 16 games. 2015, however, saw him take to the field only seven times.
Second favorites, albeit narrowly, are last season’s winners Houston Texans. They signed their own star quarterback in Brock Osweiler, but are expected to struggle on the road against nonconference teams Denver Broncos, New England Patriots, Green Bay Packers, Oakland Raiders, and Minnesota Vikings.
A good Texans bet would be for JJ Watt to win the best NFL Defensive Player award at +300.
The Jacksonville Jaguars are expected to finish third with a 7-9 record in 2016 partly because of their lacklustre defense that ranked 13th in the AFC last season after allowing 6,000 yards. The struggled defending passing, ranking second-worst in the AFC with 268.2 yards per game allowed.
Everyone expects the Tennessee Titans to struggle in 2016 despite having the eighth best defense in the AFC last season. It is the Titans offense that lets them down – they only made 4,988 yards in total in 2015, for an average of 311.8 per game.
Helping them look better than the Titans are is an easier than usual schedule, but don’t waste your money on the +1100 to win AFC South because it simply will not happen. Expect them to go around 6-10 this season.
