New York Yankees vs. Minnesota Twins: MLB Battle in the Bronx

New York Yankees: Flying under the radar – for a change

While fans in New York may be buzzing about their Bronx Bombers, everyone else seems fairly indifferent towards them as we hit the “half way point” of the 2013 MLB season. Pummeled by injuries, some would say deservedly so for the Old Folks Home of the American League, the Yankees are 6.5 games out of first in the AL East but just 2.5 out of the AL Wild Card playoff race. Throw in the circus and scandals that surround Alex (A-Fraud) Rodriguez, and we’ve had a lot of reasons to shy away from New York. That said, the Yankees are hanging around and they can close the first half on a 10-4 run with a CC Sabathia (9-7 ERA 3.99) win today.

Minnesota Twins: Twinkies have some work ahead during the MLB second half

Posted with a 50-1 price to win the MLB American League Championship in the preseason, not much was expected out of Minnesota this year. For that reason, the Twins are probably viewing their 24-29 first half as a success as they are just 5-5 games behind the under-achieving Detroit Tigers in the AL Central. We wouldn’t plan any parades down on 1 Twins Way anytime soon though. Pitching is a big problem in Minnesota as their 4.45 team ERA is 29th in the Majors and their combined 534 total strikeouts is last in the league. Colorado is next closest with 612 punch-outs. RHP Kyle Gibson (1-2 ERA 7.27) makes his fourth MLB start in this contest.

Yankees vs. Twins MLB Sunday Betting Prices and Sportsbook Bonus Prediction

We turn to another favorite as we head to the online sportsbook for this prices on this contest today. New York has been posted as thick home chalk at -1.5 (-110) against the spread and -200 on the money line. Minnesota are road pups at +1.5 (-120) ATS and +170 S/U while the Over/Under is set at 8.5 (O -110 U -120) total runs. Gibson’s second career start was against New York in Minnesota. It didn’t go well as he was lit up for eight runs and eleven hits in a 9-5 loss. The Yankees have a 5-1 series lead, by a combined 32-18 count, against the Twins this season. We’ll back CC Sabathia and the Bronx Bombers with the -200 ML at Bovada.
