Before you know it, the 2026 NBA All-Star Break is going to get here, which means the postseason will get here before most people will even be ready. Thus far this season, we've seen several teams put on a show and impress. Obviously, the reigning champs have looked great. With that said, the OKC Thunder remain huge favorites to win the 2026 NBA Finals.
Will the Western Conference powerhouse be able to get the job done? The Thunder have looked nearly unstoppable this year, with the offense putting on a show each time they take the hardwood. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has been a man on a mission, while Chet Holmgren is also looking solid. Is it too early for fans to start thinking about a repeat?

"Physicality. Communication. He's a smart basketball player," SGA said on the return of Jalen Williams. "When he's out there, he brings a level of connectedness because he's always talking. Always know where guys should be. Just has a good feel for the game. Making players for himself and others. Really good basketball player and when he's out there, we're a better team."
According to the best sports betting sites, the Thunder currently hold an impressive +115 basketball betting odds to win it all. Obviously, the best NBA betting sites also have other teams in contention, but the assumption is the Thunder will be able to make some team history by winning it all once again. It will be interesting if that will happen or not.
With a 70-point 2nd half fueled by points off turnovers and 2nd chance points, the @okcthunder played their way to a 124-112 victory over the Heat. @ParisNLawson and I broke down the full-team victory as OKC moved to 33-7: pic.twitter.com/mJyZbEETas

The Nuggets are viewed as OKC's main competition for the NBA Finals
It goes without saying, but the Nuggets are viewed as OKC's main competition for the NBA Finals. Denver, no stranger to winning it all, has also looked strong this year. Nikola Jokic is one again in the MVP hunt and he has people all over Colorado excited about what this team can get done this year. The hope is that Denver will be able to get him back from injury as soon as possible too.
“I know he’s antsy; he’s never been hurt,” Denver head coach David Adelman said in a recent interview on his star player working his way back from his knee injury. “We all know what that’s like. People who have played sports and got hurt, the worst part is just sitting around. And that’s somebody that never misses games.”
“I understand the 65 game rule, but a guy who NEVER misses games for a decade, it bothers me a little bit.”
“This is not somebody who sits out. He NEVER sits out.”

As for the action back on the hardwood, the Nuggets hold the No. 2 NBA Finals betting odds, listed at +750. That's a pretty big drop off from the Thunder, which speaks volumes to what Vegas thinks about the Thunder repeating as the champs. While those odds stand out a bit, don't even think for a second that Denver won't push them to the limit if they end up meeting in the postseason.
The New York Knicks are considered the top contenders out east
On the other side of the bracket, keep in mind here that the New York Knicks are considered the top contenders out east. During the in-season tournament, the Knicks were able to shock a lot of people by winning that title. The hope there is that it's going to give New York a ton of confidence for the rest of the season, which could end up being the case.
The Knicks have been close in getting the job done in recent years, but they've fallen a bit short. This is obviously something that has been devastating for Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns and others. However, the hope is that this year the team will be able to put everything together and not only reach the Finals, but push for the glory too.
That's not going to be easy for New York, as OKC and Denver are the presumed favorites. However, New York may have a bit of an easier path to the Finals being in the Eastern Conference. Per the oddsmakers, New York holds +1300 odds to win it all. That number could get better as the season goes on - New York will surely be a team to watch moving forward.
