April 30 Probable Pitchers And Opening MLB Odds

April 30 Probable Pitchers And Opening MLB Odds

Cleveland's TJ House has been arguably the AL's worst starting pitcher so far this season and his rotation spot is in major jeopardy if he has another stinker in Thursday's series opener against Toronto. Here's every game on the schedule in order of start time and with opening BetOnline odds. Phillies RHP David Buchanan at Cardinals LHP Tim Cooney (-155, 8): Buchanan finally enjoyed a little bit of success Saturday in a start against the Braves. He allowed two hits, three runs and three walks and struck out three in 6 2/3 innings. The bullpen allowed two of his runners to score. Cooney will make his Major League debut, taking the rotation spot that opened upon Adam Wainwright's injury. Cooney, a third-round pick in the 2012 Draft, led the Pacific Coast League with 14 wins last season. Angels RHP Garrett Richards at A's RHP Jesse Chavez (-110, 7.5): Richards earned his first victory since his August knee injury in his second start this season, April 24 vs. Texas, 3-2, with a seven-inning, three-hit effort. Chavez will make his second start of the year, and first since claiming the rotation spot vacated by the demoted Kendall Graveman. Chavez allowed two runs (one earned) over six innings against the Angels on April 23. Reds RHP Mike Leake at Braves RHP Shelby Miller (-117, 7): Leake delivered a second straight quality start with seven innings vs. the Cubs, but he gave away a pair of leads on homers by Anthony Rizzo and nemesis Chris Coghlan. His nine strikeouts were a season high. Miller has relied heavily on the sinker he developed late last season, and he has also shown consistent command with both his four-seam and cut fastballs. He has produced a 2.02 ERA over his past 11 starts, dating back to Aug. 23. Blue Jays LHP Daniel Norris at Indians LHP TJ House (+106, 8): Norris was dealing with a dead-arm issue during the first two weeks of the season, but he seemed to be over the problem during his last start against the Rays. Norris allowed just one run on five hits over seven strong innings of work. House has struggled so far, posting a 12.60 ERA and lasting just 10 innings over his first three starts. On a normal four days' rest for the first time this season, he'll look to right the ship against a Blue Jays team he's never faced. Nationals RHP Stephen Strasburg at Mets RHP Jacob deGrom (-114, 7): Strasburg wasn't his dominating self in an 8-0 loss to the Marlins on Saturday in Miami. Strasburg lasted 6 innings, allowed 4 runs on 8 hits, struck out 6 and walked 2. deGrom's sensational start to the season came to an end last time out as he was tagged for three homers and six runs in five innings against the Yankees. He'll be back at spacious Citi Field to face the Nationals for the second time this year. White Sox LHP Chris Sale at Twins RHP Trevor May (+137, 7): Sale is able to make his scheduled start while appealing his five-game suspension stemming from his part in an on-field fracas with the Royals. Sale made his big league debut at Camden Yards in 2010. May lasted just 3 1/3 innings in his last start on Saturday against the Mariners, as he left after being hit near his right elbow on a comebacker. But he was cleared to rejoin the rotation and won't miss a start because of it. Tigers RHP Alfredo Simon at Royals LHP Danny Duffy (-105, 8): Simon could become the ninth Tiger in the last 100 years to win each of his first five starts to begin a season. His latest victory came with 6 2/3 innings of one-run ball Saturday against the Indians at Comerica Park. Duffy fanned three and walked one while giving up an unearned run on six hits over 5.1 innings against the White Sox last Friday night. Although he exited with a 2-1 lead, Duffy did not factor in the decision Friday as the game was tied at 2-2 upon being suspended due to rain after the eighth inning. Through four starts, the left-hander has only pitched into the sixth inning once this season. Mariners LHP James Paxton at Astros RHP Scott Feldman (-115, 8.5): Paxton (0-2, 6.86 ERA) was the recipient of some bad luck in his last start. Facing the Twins, he allowed four runs, one earned, over 4 2/3 innings, but the Mariners made three errors behind him and he suffered the loss. Feldman has given the Astros three quality starts in four outings this year, including two in a row. The Astros have won his last two starts, including Saturday in Oakland when he allowed three runs in 6 2/3 innings.
