It's funny how things can change in the span of a week or so. Before the final series of the year got underway, the Oilers were expected to take down the Panthers with the title on the line. Three games in, though, things have changed in a massive way. That's right, Florida is now the overwhelming favorite to win the 2025 Stanley Cup Finals.
Will the Eastern Conference powerhouse be able to come out on top? That's what a lot of people think will go down, as the Panthers have jumped out to a 2-1 lead. This is a huge surprise, especially with the way Game 3 went down. Florida dominated from start to finish, posting a 6-1 win. Now, the Panthers are two wins away from capturing the glory for the second year in a row.

"We played super well and super disciplined, just like a veteran, older team who's been here," Florida forward Matthew Tkachuk said. "This is our third time at it. We know it's a series, and we've got to stick up for each other, but got to be smart too. I thought it was great that guys were sticking up for each other, and at the end of the day, it's just a big win and just one game."
According to the best sports betting sites, the Panthers now hold -225 hockey betting odds to win the Stanley Cup title. The Oilers have their backs against the wall, as they now hold +250 odds per the top sportsbooks for NHL Playoffs. It will be interesting to see how things go down here, but we're no question going with the Panthers as our pick to finish things off.
🤷🏻♂️ Time for Oiler fans to stop talking about Bennett.
Edmonton flew off the rails; frustrated, no discipline… did they send a message? No… just got embarrassed.
You cant out “Florida” Florida. Only 1 game, but the Panthers looked like defending cup champs. pic.twitter.com/2JAdzQILFH

How many games will the Stanley Cup Finals last?
As things stand, a lot of people continue to ask themselves how many games will the Stanley Cup Finals last? Before the start of the series, plenty of analysts thought it would last either 6-7 games. With how strong the Panthers have looked, however, some people are convinced that they'll win the next two games and close things out in style. Could that happen?
“Well, definitely the third period is an unraveling,” Edmonton coach Kris Knoblauch said after the Game 3 loss. “I think the game was out of hand. I don’t think we would have acted or played like that had the game been a one-goal or two-goal game. I think our guys were just trying to, I don’t know, boys being boys, I guess, just trying to make investments for the next game.”
Just Paul Maurice cracking jokes again! 😅

Looking to get in on the betting action? Consider this a reminder that there's no better time than now to check out the top sportsbooks and the awesome promotions they're running. This includes the BetOnline promo codes and promotions, which are no doubt fan favorites throughout the year. With the Stanley Cup Finals in full swing, now is surely a great time to check them out too.
As for the action, something tells us that the Panthers and Oilers are going to keep things going in a back-and-forth manner. We're going to double down with the Panthers as our pick to win the title, but we're expecting Edmonton to push things back to a Game 7. With the over/under being 5.5 games, we're surely going with the over as our pick here.
Sam Bennett is the new favorite to win the Conn Smythe Trophy
As you might have been able to guess, Sam Bennett is the new favorite to win the Conn Smythe Trophy, the top honor that goes to the Stanley Cup MVP. Entering the series, Connor McDavid was the top contender for the award, but now that Florida is the favorite, things have changed there.
Bennett has been great thus far through the first three games of the series and he's no question going to play a big role in things the rest of the way. If Florida wants to repeat as the champs, then they'll no question need Bennett to be at his best over the next few games.
Having said all of that, the Panthers are in the driver's seat to lift the trophy high into the sky sooner than later. Bennett holds +175 Stanley Cup betting odds to win the Conn Smythe Trophy and we sure like that figure. It's not going to be easy for him, but we think Bennett will be the one to be named MVP in this case and win the Conn Smythe Trophy. He's our pick in this case - we're going to lock that one in.
