Here we go again, folks. Each and every summer, countless people can't wait for the British Open to arrive and this year is no different. Later this week, the top golfers in the world will hit the links to try and come away with the title. Who will be able to come out on top? It shouldn't be a surprise, but Scottie Scheffler is the clear favorite to win the 2025 Open Championship. Will he raise the trophy?
That's what plenty of analysts think is going to end up being the case, Scheffer has continued to cement himself as one of the biggest stars on the planet. There's of course going to be a loaded field to try and bring him down, but that doesn't mean that Scheffler won't enter the tournament with a ton of confidence. He's ready to make a statement.

Again, it's not going to be easy for him and it's going to be interesting to see if he's going to live up to the hype or not. While it wouldn't be a major surprise at all if he ends up winning it all, we're actually going to go in a different direction here...
Scottie Scheffler ended his presser Tuesday with 5 minutes on fulfillment in competitive golf -- or lack thereof:

Rory McIlroy is our pick to win the 2025 Open Championship
That's right, we're throwing a bit of a curveball at things, as Rory McIlroy is our pick to win the 2025 Open Championship. McIlroy is also one of the top standouts out there and he's surely still riding high after he was able to win The Master's earlier this year. That was a historic one for McIlroy and one that meant the world to him. Now, he's hoping to win this major, which is taking place close to his native home.
"It was all relief,” McIlroy said with passion after he was able to win The Master's. “And then, you know, the joy came pretty soon after that. But that was — I've been coming here 17 years, and it was a decade-plus of emotion that came out of me there
"I guess I wanted to go away somewhere and sit in my green jacket for a couple of weeks and no-one annoy me!" 🤣

Looking to get in on the betting action too? This is our reminder for you that there's no better time than now to check out the top sports betting sites out there for all the special promos they've got going on. This includes the BetOnline promo codes and promotions, which are always going to be quite intriguing for people to take advantage of.
As for the golf action this week, McIlroy holds +750 odds per the top golf betting sites. Yes, Scheffler indeed is the favorite and McIlroy is behind him, but we don't think that's going to matter in this case. Rory is still riding high from what he was able to get done in Augusta and something tells us that momentum will transfer over. Let's see if he'll be able to pull off some magic here.
There are several other contenders to keep an eye on at the Open Championship
While a ton of the focus is on Scheffler and McIlroy as the main contenders, don't forget for a second that there are several other contenders to keep an eye on at the Open Championship. With so many elite players making their way to town, this could end up going multiple different ways.
At the jump, we've got to bring up Bryson DeChambeau, who is no stranger to coming out on top of big-time tournaments. In addition to him, it's safe to say that Xander Schauffele, the defending champion from the 2024 Open Championship, will be set to make a splash too.
Others to monitor include Jon Rahm, Ludvig Åberg, Tommy Fleetwood, Collin Morikawa and more. Yes, we're going to double down on McIlroy as our projected winner, but that doesn't mean some of the other quality performers we just mentioned won't have weekends to remember as well in this one.
