He’s the lone racer to finish on the podium in both races.
Because of those standout races, Bezzecchi is firmly in first place in the world championship standings right now. He’s up to 50 points, nine more than second place. Again, it’s only been two races, but Bezzecchi has turned heads quickly in the sport. That’s evident by looking at the American Grand Prix odds. As it stands, Bezzecchi has the second-best odds to win, per the best betting sites:
No surprise that Bagnaia is the single rider with better odds at winning COTA than Bezzecchi. He remains the reigning champion, though, his title defense has gotten off to a hot and cold start. Hot because Bagnaia did win the season-opener in Portugal. Cold because the Italian crashed in Argentina while battling for second. Even dating back to last year, Bagnaia always has that boom-or-bust potential, trading wins and DNFs semi-regularly.
There have been other crashes that have marred the first two races. In Portugal, Marc Marquez and Miguel Oliviera collided. Neither suited up for the Argentine GP and their status for this weekend’s race remains up in the air. Early word is that Oliviera wants to compete, but medical tests need to be performed to give him the official green light.

We’ve spent a lot talking about crashes so far. The threat of crashing out seems to loom larger in MotoGP than other motorsports like NASCAR or F1. For this reason, we’re making multiple bets on the 2023 MotoGP Grand Prix of the Americas winner. Two is a good number to safeguard profits but also to protect against a costly crash. Checo Bagnaia
One of your bets almost has to be between Bagnaia and Bezzecchi. Both Italian and both 2023 winners already. Between the two, we’re choosing Bagnaia for this race. We actually think the quick rise of Bezzecchi is a benefit since you’re more likely to get Bagnaia at solid odds. We mean, +200 is a mini-steal for the defending champion.
More than anything else, we need to see a little more from Bezzecchi before fully jumping on the bandwagon. At least with Bagnaia, you have a sample size going back to 2021 of consistently winning races or ending up on the podium. He’s still the man to beat for now, but we’ll be watching Bezzecchi closely to see if that changes soon or not.
Jack Miller
If we’re going to take Bagnaia with our first bet, then it only makes sense to up the risk with the backup bet. By that, we mean to pick a semi-longshot to gut out the victory. Miller is that underdog for us. The Australian has been ok so far — seventh- and sixth-place finishes — but he could be better. As a four-time race winner before, Miller certainly can up the ante too.
Miller is worth considering here for that reason. A year ago at COTA, Miller placed on the podium so we’d venture to guess he’ll be in contention on Sunday. If a few things could break right for him, then there’s a chance he can pull off the upset.

If you’re in the United States, you know catching MotoGP on TV isn’t always the most optimal experience. This is because most races are broadcast on tape delay thanks to the significant time difference between the US and the locations where the majority of races occur (across the Atlantic Ocean). However, this weekend is an exception to the norm when watching the Grand Prix of Americas.
That’s because CNBC has announced that they will be airing the MotoGP race LIVE at 3 pm EST on Sunday. This will be the second consecutive year that the American race will be broadcast in real-time for US viewers.
