Must-Read Betting Advice On 2023 F1 Miami Grand Prix Winner

The second-ever Miami Grand Prix goes down Sunday, May 7. Before you put down any money on the race at the Miami International Autodrome, you HAVE to read this. We’re previewing the events ahead and giving you free AND expert betting advice on the Miami GP winner!

2023 Miami Grand Prix Preview

Before we preview what’s ahead at the 2023 Miami Grand Prix, we have to start with the latest Formula 1 race odds. Among the entire grid, the following drivers are most favored to win, per the best online sportsbooks:

Max Verstappen-250-250-250
Sergio Perez+300+300+300
Charles Leclerc+1200+1200+1200
Fernando Alonso+1400+1400+1400
Lewis Hamilton+2500+2500+2500
Carlos Sainz+3300+3300+3300
George Russell+4000+4000+4000

Red Bull is seated atop the Miami Grand Prix odds table, as they should be. They’ve dominated this sport after four races, and the gap between them and other teams feels bigger than the Atlantic Ocean that hugs Miami. They’ve won all four races so far — with Verstappen and Perez splitting each. Verstappen is atop the title standings at 93 points with Perez just six shy of him.

The next-closest driver on the season-long leaderboard? Fernando Alonso, who is 33 points behind Verstappen. The Aston Martin had his three-straight podium streak snapped this past weekend, though he placed fourth overall at Azerbaijan. Perez edged his teammate to win, but third place (Charles Leclerc) was 21 seconds off of first place. As we said, it’s been Red Bull domination of epic proportions so far.

We should also mention that Verstappen won the first-ever Miami race a year ago. Leclerc won the pole, but Verstappen passed him on Lap 9 of 57 and never looked back again. Ultimately, Leclerc finished runner-up with just under four seconds off. His Ferrari teammate, Carlos Sainz, rounded out the podium.

As a reminder, the track zooms around Hard Rock Stadium — where the city’s NFL team (the Dolphins) calls home. The Autodrome is a temporary track that stretches 3.36 miles. The circuit is made up of 19 turns in all. The road has been re-paved while minor alterations have been made to the Turn 14/15 chicane. But aside from that, just about everything remains the same from the 2022 debut.

Best Betting Picks To Win 2023 Miami Grand Prix

Look, we could make the case for multiple different drivers here. However, you won’t make money spreading yourself too thin like that. Money is made from having conviction on one or two betting plays. And out of the whole grid, the two drivers most worthy of Miami Grand Prix betting picks are these two:

Sergio Perez

Given the Red Bull run we’ve seen, you HAVE to bet on at least one the drivers — no ifs, ands, or butts about it. However, look at the odd disparity between the two. Verstappen is -250 and Perez is +300 — a difference of more than 500. At that point, Perez is the obvious choice from a pure betting value perspective.

Verstappen is effectively a high-risk, low-reward option, and that’s rarely ever good in betting. Perez finished fourth in Miami a year ago, but he’s obviously a better driver this time around. The Mexican is our priority pick to make here.

Charles Leclerc

Out of the non-Red Bull drivers, Leclerc is getting our money first. He and Verstappen had an absolute dogfight a year ago, which gives us confidence he can turn things around. Plus, this is a street race, which typically brings out the best in Leclerc. Nine of his 19 career pole victories have come on such tracks. Leclerc is a sneaky bet to make here, especially at his rather long odds.

Miami is the first of three F1 races inside the United States — a market that’s exploded in enthusiasm for the sport since Netflix’s “Drive To Survive” was released a few years ago. The Miami Grand Prix starts at 3 pm EST on Sunday. For those in the United States, ESPN typically airs F1 races. But this week, ABC has the full TV coverage (Disney owns both ABC and ESPN). So be sure to go there some Sunday. Though, practice and qualification the days before can be found on ESPN and ESPN2 still.
