In a flash, the regular season is about to come to an end for Major League Baseball fans. Before the season started, the expectation was that the Los Angeles Dodgers were going to repeat as the champs. However, not so fast there. According to the updated odds, the Phillies are the World Series favorites with the postseason almost here. Will Bryce Harper and Co. come out on top?
That's what a lot of people are thinking, as the Phillies have been sensational this year. Philly is on its way to winning the NL East, which a lot of us expected. Once the playoffs do get here, there's going to be a ton of pressure on Harper, Kyle Schwarber and others to keep playing at a high level. There's confidence in this team to keep things going, especially with a first-round bye on the way.
World Series odds | ![]() | ![]() | ![]() |
---|---|---|---|
Phillies to win | +420 | +420 | +420 |
Mariners to win | +500 | +500 | +500 |
Dodgers to win | +600 | +600 | +600 |
Yankees to win | +900 | +900 | +900 |
"I mean, it's worked for some teams, obviously, and there's other teams that have complained about it and things like that, but I don't think we're going to be one of those teams. We weren't last year," Harper said in a recent interview leading up to the MLB playoffs.
According to the best sports betting sites, the Phillies hold +420 MLB betting odds to win the World Series. This is pretty telling, as countless MLB betting sites have them as the No. 1 choice to win it all. With the hitting so strong and the pitching looking great too, it wouldn't be a surprise. However, we're going in a different direction for our pick to win the Fall Classic in 2025.

The Seattle Mariners are our pick to win the 2025 World Series
Call it a hunch, but the Seattle Mariners are our pick to win the 2025 World Series. Yes, the Mariners have never won it all before, as the furthest they've reached is the ALCS. However, it sure feels like the stars are starting to align for the AL West side. This past weekend, the Mariners went to Houston for a three-game series, which was the biggest set of the year.
However, the Mariners posted a full clean sweep and now they're the overwhelming favorites to win the division for the first time since 2001. Should that be the case, which we're expecting, Julio Rodriguez, Cal Raleigh, Logan Gilbert and others are going to enter the playoffs with a ton of confidence. This team is no question getting hot at the right time.

"He just continues to check off all these milestones and he does it with such a humble heart,โ Manager Dan Wilson said of slugger Cal Raleigh in a recent interview. โThe position itself to that a little bit because you get knocked down back there, but he has handled it all so incredibly well. And I donโt know how heโs been able to do it.โ
Per the oddsmakers, the Mariners hold +500 baseball betting odds to win the title, which is No. 2 behind the Phillies. This is a position that no one thought Seattle would be in at this point of the year, but the Mariners are proving a lot of people wrong. It will be interesting to see how things go down here, but yes, we're going with Seattle as our World Series winners.
The Dodgers, Blue Jays and Yankees are also in the hunt for the World Series
While a lot of the focus is on the Mariners and Phillies, keep in mind that the Dodgers, Blue Jays and Yankees are also in the hunt for the World Series title. The Dodgers are always going to be a threat, as they're the reigning champs and Shohei Ohtani continues to be one of the best players in the bigs. He's truly a generational player.
The Blue Jays are loaded with talent and the Yankees are one of the top teams in the AL too. New York won the AL pennant last year and fans all over the Bronx are hopeful that a return trip to the World Series will be on the way for the historic club. People are still upset about the loss in the World Series last year, but might Aaron Judge and others wipe away things by winning it this year?
There's a ton of pressure on Aaron Boone to step up, as fans have been calling for him to get fired in recent years. If the Yankees don't go on a deep postseason run in 2025, it could lead to him being out of a job sooner rather than later. While we think the Mariners are going to win it all, we also wouldn't be surprised if the Yankees manage to make things interesting in the AL too in the coming weeks.
