We’re a few short weeks away from the return of college football — and now is the time to lock in futures wagers. In this very article, we’re laying out three NCAA football futures bets to make on who wins the title, who wins their conference, and how a specific team performs. Top Picks On NCAAF Futures Bets
There are dozens upon dozens of futures wagers available across top sites for football betting. Dozens! However, we’ve hand-picked some of our favorite NCAAF bets below. When putting down betting money, we’d prioritize these picks first:
2023 NCAA Champion
Alright, we start with everyone’s favorite bet — who wins the natty title? All the usual contenders are in the discussion, but here’s how the betting odds shake out:
Team | |||
---|---|---|---|
Georgia | +225 | +225 | +225 |
Alabama | +600 | +600 | +600 |
Ohio State | +700 | +700 | +700 |
Michigan | +900 | +900 | +900 |
LSU | +1200 | +1200 | +1200 |
USC | +1600 | +1600 | +1600 |
Clemson | +1600 | +1600 | +1600 |
Texas | +2000 | +2000 | +2000 |
Florida State | +2000 | +2000 | +2000 |
We think Georgia are automatic bets here. We mean, don’t you have to after back-to-back titles? Our belief is yes because the program has shown itself to be a cut above the rest.
The big, and perhaps only, question mark facing the Dawgs is their new quarterback and offensive coordinator. The team is replacing both after the offense uncharacteristically outdid the defense during the 2022 title season. The new faces are coordinator Mike Bobo and signal caller Carson Beck.
Honestly, we’d give the duo the benefit of the doubt. A year ago, we were asking how in the world Georgia would replace nine defensive starters from its 2021 team — which they successfully did. Our trust is fully behind Kirby Smart to rebuild the offense now. It helps Bobo and Beck will benefit from an insanely-talented group of skill players led by tight end Brock Bowers.
It should be noted, no college team has three-prayed titles in the modern era. Six teams have tried and six have failed, including one led by Nick Saban (2013 Alabama). But Georgia’s dominance over the past two years is enough for us to overlook that bleak history and make this wager.
Big Ten Champion
You already know how this bet is going down — you either pick Michigan or Ohio State. Both are massive favorites to take the conference, as seen in the odds underneath:
Team | |||
---|---|---|---|
Ohio State | +160 | +160 | +160 |
Michigan | +180 | +180 | +180 |
Penn State | +550 | +550 | +550 |
Wisconsin | +800 | +800 | +800 |
Iowa | +1200 | +1200 | +1200 |
Minnesota | +3000 | +3000 | +3000 |
So who’s the better choice among the two? We’re going with Michigan. There’s a little more stability with its roster than Ohio State, mainly at the game’s most important position, quarterback. Wolverines have JJ McCarthy going into year two as the established starter and he’s the best playmaker they’ve had at the position in a long, long time.
The Buckeyes, on the other hand, haven't picked a starter to replace CJ Stroud yet. Sophomore Devin Brown and junior Kyle McCord are duking out for the job. We’re confident either will do fine, especially when they have Marvin Harrison Jr. to throw to, but there will be some bumps in the road. In this conference, even one bad outing is enough to knock you out of the conference and CFP picture.
We’re confidently backing Michigan. Heck, we might even consider them as a sleeper national title pick. With McCarthy, this might be Jim Harbaugh’s best chance at winning it all yet.
Alabama Over/Under 10.5 Wins
Outcome | |||
---|---|---|---|
Over 10.5 wins | +140 | +140 | +140 |
Under 10.5 wins | -170 | -170 | -170 |
Dare we say the Tide is being slightly overlooked this season? Of course, they're still in the national title conversation but they’re not garnering as much mindshare as usual. Perhaps that’s because they failed to make the CFP last year (only the second time ever), or because of Georgia’s aforementioned dominance, or just that Bama has some question marks going into 2023.
No surprise, the question is who replaces Bryce Young under center? Saban currently has a three-man battle going on for the job. If we had to guess, there will be more than one starting quarterback this season for the Tide, which honestly, isn’t ideal. You want stability at the position and we fear Bama won’t have it.
For this reason, we’re inclined to take the under. All they need to do is lose two games to hit on that bet. Looking at the schedule, the two trip-ups might be Texas in September and LSU in November. Heck, even a visit to Texas A&M in October is a trap game waiting to happen.
