It's go time. While a lot of focus for sports fans is on the soccer and football seasons, the WNBA is still in action and the postseason has arrived. It's been a memorable year for hoops supporters, as Caitlin Clark posted an unreal rookie season. However, with the playoffs on the docket, it's time to find out which team will take home the trophy. Leading up to things, the Liberty are favored to win the 2024 WNBA Finals with the postseason. Will New York come out on top?
This team is stacked with a ton of talent, which is why a lot of the experts think they'll be able to close things out. New York is no question led by the strong play of Sabrina Ionescu and Breanna Stewart. Steward is no stranger to winning the Finals, as she has done so numerous times throughout her career. Ionescu is one of the best shooters in the game as well, which is going to be a problem for opposing defenses. Both are still thinking about the loss in the Finals last season too.
Team | |||
---|---|---|---|
Liberty to win | +135 | +135 | +135 |
Aces to win | +200 | +200 | +200 |
Lynx to win | +300 | +300 | +300 |
Sun to win | +900 | +900 | +900 |
"The returners definitely think about the loss in the finals last year as motivation this year," Breanna Stewart said in an interview with CBS Sports. "It's a little bit of a mix of both because it is a new season, but making sure that continues to fuel us and understand that the things we did wrong then, we are not going to let them happen again."
According to the best sports betting sites, which includes the reliable Bovada sportsbook review, the Liberty hold +135 basketball betting odds to win the title this season. It's not going to be easy for them, but they have the pieces in place to do so. It will be interesting to see if New York will be able to make a statement here, but we have a feeling someone else is going to be the one to be crowned the champs soon.

The Aces are our pick to win the 2024 WNBA Finals
Believe it or not, the Aces are our pick to win the 2024 WNBA Finals. The Aces won the title last year and interestingly enough, they beat New York. A lot of people think that these two teams could face off in the Finals again, which would be a thrilling showdown. In order for that to happen, Las Vegas will need to win the Western Conference, while New York will once again need to take down the rest of the competition in the Eastern Conference.
For the Aces, they are led by the incredible play of A'ja Wilson and Kelsey Plum. Wilson is averaging well over 20 points per game, while Plum has posted 17.8 per showdown. Don't forget about Jackie Young either, as she's good for nearly 16 points an outing. Wilson is the leader in points scored and she's also a force around the glass with her rebounding. In order for Las Vegas to go on a deep run, Wilson, Plum and Young will need to be at their best.
A'ja Wilson has passed Angel Reese for most REB in a single season with 447+

"I don't want to sound cliché when I say this, but I don't get any of that without every single teammate along the way," Wilson said on her unreal regular season with the Aces. "And I'm so grateful to be able to play with selfless women. They give it their all every single day, and they're their pure selves, and that's what I love the most. My teammates, they're the heartbeat, they keep me going."
Per the oddsmakers, the Aces hold +200 WNBA betting odds to win the title. New York indeed holds the No. 1 odds, but whenever these two teams face off, anything can happen. At this time last year, Las Vegas was able to get the last laugh on New York, but the Liberty are out for some revenge. While that could prove to be the case, we just don't see it happening for the Eastern Conference side. We're indeed going with the Aces as our pick.
A'ja Wilson is our pick to win WNBA Finals MVP
Since we are going with the Aces as the winners of the WNBA Finals, that means A'ja Wilson is our pick to win WNBA Finals MVP. Wilson has put up historic numbers this campaign and she'd love nothing more than to be able to close the year out with a title for her team. It's going to be tough for her, but she's got plenty of help on the hardwood with her.
Stewart has the best odds to win Finals MVP and she'll surely capture the hardwood if New York takes down the rest of the field. However, we are sticking to our guns with Las Vegas. There's something about their play that is outstanding and Wilson will be the one to lead the way. She's our MVP pick.
