Pegasus World Cup Best Bets
Knicks Go is absolutely the horse to beat in the 2021 Pegasus World Cup, which makes him the best bet in the race. The last four winners of the Pegasus World Cup all scored victories in the Breeders' Cup in November, and Knicks Go is no exception. He took the Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile (G1) very impressively and has been rested since for trainer Brad Cox. He will try to become the second gray winner of the Pegasus following Arrogate in the inaugural edition.
Tax will be a tough horse to beat. A top three-year-old in 2019, Tax missed most of 2020 but did win his comeback race, the Grade 3 Harlan's Holiday, very impressively. That race took place over the Gulfstream Park track, so Tax is proven on the course. Danny Gargan trains the five-year-old gelding by Arch.
Another Grade 1 horse with a shot is True Timber. Jack Sisterson, an up and coming young trainer, campaigns the horse for the famed Calumet Farm. True Timber won the Grade 1 Cigar Mile in early December, but he has yet to hit the board at Gulfstream Park. Is True Timber good enough to win the Pegasus World Cup?
The enigma horse is Code of Honor. At one point he was one of the best horses in the world. Lately, he has struggled to find the winner's circle. Will the Code of Honor of old return? He is a Grade 2 winner over the track, but that was two years ago.
Pegasus World Cup Predictions
Trainer Brad Cox has been on fire lately, winning everything in sight. He even won four Breeders' Cup races in 2020. One of those winners, Knicks Go, will be very difficult to beat, especially if he draws an inside post. At Gulfstream Park it is very important to draw inside, as the outside posts rarely produce winners around two turns. Few horses - such as 2008 Kentucky Derby winner Big Brown - have accomplished that feat. If Knicks Go draws an outside Pegasus World Cup post position, then look towards other horses in the field.
The race also depends on good positioning early. Don't be afraid of horses that want to control the pace from the start, as they can be very dangerous at Gulfstream Park. Going too wide early can cost a horse a lot of energy and momentum.

Pegasus World Cup Turf Field
The $1 million Pegasus World Cup Turf field was announced at the same time as the Pegasus World Cup. The 1 3/16-mile race is for horses that prefer the grass, and this race is a more competitive field than the Pegasus itself.
- Sharp Samurai
- Ride a Comet
- Next Shares
- Breaking the Rules
- Storm the Court
- Social Paranoia
- Field Pass
- Analyze It
- Say the Word
- Colonel Liam
- Greyes Creek
- Cross Border
- North Dakota
Only 12 of these horses can run. Anothertwistafate came off a long layoff to impress in the Grade 2 San Gabriel at Santa Anita Park. Storm the Court won the 2019 Breeders' Cup Juvenile and ran in the Kentucky Derby. Ride a Comet is intriguing, there is no telling how good the son of Candy Ride is as he has won three in a row, including a prep race here for trainer Mark Casse.
