Ngannou vs. Gane Betting Pick

The headline bout is scheduled to be an undisputed heavyweight championship clash, the reigning champion (Ngannou) vs. the interim champ (Gane). There's some chatter that the bout could be in limbo if COVID outbreaks continue, which could halt travel for the international fighters. There's no predicting this virus so we'll go ahead and make our Ngannou vs. Gane prediction with the assumption it happens at UFC 270.

We'll be upfront, we're a little taken back by Gane being the odds-on favorite to win (barely) by top-rated UFC betting sites. Yes, he's a perfect 10-0, but he hasn't faced the highest caliber of competition. At the same time, this is the heavyweight division and the only real elite fighters in the class are Ngannou and Stipe Miocic.

Speaking of the two, that's the last time we saw Ngannou in the octagon. He COMPLETELY dominated an all-time great like Miocic. Admittedly, Miocic is in the twilight of his career, but Ngannou showed a more versatile skillset in that convincing victory. While yes, power is still his strength, Ngannou isn't just a wild puncher anymore. No, the man can fight. Period.

To us, the biggest question mark is about Gane's chin. It hasn't really been tested before, which raises the question, "can he take a punch(s) from UFC's strongest hitter, Ngannou?" Our gut tells us no. We believe Ngannou's game plan will be to finish Gane early, which he'll indeed accomplish.

Moreno vs. Figueiredo Betting Pick

For the third time in a year's time, the flyweight title is up for grabs between Moreno and Figueiredo. Trilogies are rare in this sport and this feud is deserving a rubber match to finally decide who the best in the weight class is. Before we give you our Moreno vs. Figueiredo betting pick, let's recap the past two fights — a quick reminder is needed to base our prediction from.

The first bout in December 2020 ended in a majority draw. Though, if not for an illegal low blow that docked him a point in the scorecard, Figueiredo would've narrowly won. The flyweights ran back the rematch six months later and the result was a complete 180-turn. In that bout, Moreno outclassed Figueiredo wire-to-wire before making him tap out in the third round.

We can't erase that rematch from our minds when deciding the victor in the third battle. It really was a one-sided affair and Moreno looked like a completely different fighter (for the better). If he could make that level of improvement in six months, what type of fixes could he make in another six months which is the case here?

Here's another overlooked aspect that could be in Moreno's favor — he could have a significant home crowd advantage. Anaheim is not far from Tijuana, Mexico where Moreno was born and raised. Plus, Anaheim and the whole LA area has a strong Mexican culture. Moreno, already a star on the rise, could be catapulted to another level of fame with a win in front of a partisan crowd. So yes, we're backing Moreno with a bet here.

Diaz vs. Poirier Betting Pick

For the record, this Diaz vs. Poirier matchup isn’t officially set, it’s only rumored at this point. But both fighters have expressed interest in doing the bout and doing it in a hurry. Therefore, we’re making a betting pick on it — whether it happens at UFC 270 or not.

This fight should be like a rock ‘em sock ‘em contest between two of the most popular and revered strikers in the entire UFC. Regardless, Poirier is the one in the prime of his career, not at the tail end of it like Diaz. He should be able to take care of business, hence why he’s such a staggering favorite.

This fight has more betting value in the prop market such as the exact method of victory. While Diaz might not win, he’s also not being finished early. He takes punishment like no other fighter in this sports history — which signals a Poirier decision win.
