Over/Under 46.5 Points: Denver Broncos at Detroit Lions

This matchup will take place on Saturday and it pitts two playoff-contending teams against one another. The spread is four points, favoring Detroit, but we have our eyes on the Broncos-Lions over/under instead. Here are the odds at the top-used betting sites for NFL:

OutcomeMyBookieBetUSBetOnline
Over 46.5 points-110-110-110
Under 46.5 points-110-110-110

Talk about two teams trending in completely opposite directions. The Lions are 2-2, and honestly, a few plays away from being 0-4 as of late — yet still in contention for the NFC’s one seed. Denver started 1-5 and at one point, was embarrassed when they gave up 70 points in a single game. Now they’re 7-6 and firmly in the playoff picture. What gives?

You can pin Detroit’s recent issues on a lackluster defense. Since the start of November, they’re allowing an average of 30.5 points in five games. Not only that, but they’ve played against pretty light competition — Bears (twice), Packers, Saints, and Chargers. Only one of the teams has an “established” quarterback and that’s Justin Herbert in LA. At this point, you can’t give the unit the benefit of the doubt.

We’re expecting a shootout come Saturday. The Lions' defense isn’t stopping anyone any time soon. Broncos head coach Sean Payton is an offensive mastermind so you know he’ll find ways to exploit them even more. If Detroit is going to compete at home, it’ll have to come courtesy of a strong offensive showing. Jared Goff has a QB rating of 99.6 at home this season so he’s fully capable of getting into a duel and rising to the occasion. We’re betting on points in this one and the over.

Against The Spread: Dallas Cowboys at Buffalo Bills

Here’s likely the most anticipated matchup of the week. Heck, not only anticipated, but one of the closest to fall. Just look at the Cowboys-Bills betting spread:

TeamMyBookieBetUSBetOnline
Buffalo spread (-1.5)-110-110-110
Dallas spread (+1.5)-110-110-110

We’ve reached that point in the season when people start saying the Cowboys are for real this season. This time it comes after they smoked the Eagles 33-13. You know what happens next, right? Dallas is about to have a huge letdown performance. You can rinse and repeat this cycle over the years and get the same result. This time is not different.

Why? Because the Cowboys' big win in Week 14 says more about how nonexistent the Eagles’ defense is than Dallas being legit. Remember, Philadelphia gave up 42 points to the 49ers the week before. Philly has a bottom-5 pass defense at the moment. This is not even close to the same team that went to the Super Bowl a year ago. Take out this Philly game and none of Dallas' other eight wins this season have been against a winning team. Zero!

We fully expect Buffalo to bring Dallas back “down to Earth” Sunday. You can see the desperation the Bills are playing with. They are 7-6, along with five other teams in the AFC. But because of a 4-5 conference record, they’re dead last in the tiebreakers putting them No. 11 on the AFC. Buffalo can hardly afford another loss and we don’t expect it this week. Bank on the home team to cover here.

Spread: San Francisco 49ers at Arizona Cardinals

At 13.5 points, the 49ers and Cardinals have the most lopsided spread of Week 15. Arizona is getting zero — and we mean zero — respect at home. Check out the current odds:

TeamMyBookieBetUSBetOnline
San Francisco spread (-13.5)-110-110-110
Arizona spread (+13.5)-110-110-110

San Francisco is absolutely rolling right now. Not only have they won five games in a row, but all of those wins came by double digits. This hot streak has pushed the Niners odds to win the Super Bowl to tops in the NFL. Hell, even quarterback Brock Purdy is now the MVP betting favorite.

In spite of that, we’re going out on a limb and picking the Cardinals to cover the spread. Since Kyler Murray returned a month ago, Arizona is actually competitive despite a very obvious rebuild going on. Murray has led the team to a 2-2 record with 864 passing yards, another 106 yards on the ground, six total touchdowns, and just two picks. Have we forgotten Murray has elite-level QB talent? It seems like most have but not us.

One more thing the Cardinals have going for them this week is they were on a bye last week. With an extra week to prepare for a divisional foe, we like the underdog's chances at covering. The 49ers may very well continue its double-digit win streak, but they can win by 10 or so and Arizona still covers. That’s the outcome we predict will happen because San Francisco is as good as advertised.
