Belgium (-154) Vs Hungary (+615)
Belgium is starting to show the soccer world why they were considered a favorite to win Euro 2016. But while the Belgians are riding high from a pair of victories to qualify for the knockout stages, they’ll first have to get past a strong Hungary team in a round of 16 clash on Sunday.
Belgium booked its ticket to the round of 16 after finishing second in Group E behind Italy with six points. Hungary on the other hand also turned a few heads by winning Group F ahead of favorites Portugal, who they tied during group play.
Belgium is a heavy favorite to win this match, but Hungary won’t roll over without a fight.
“Don’t make it sound like Hungary will be easy,” Belgium manager Marc Wilmots told espn.com. “Have you seen Portugal vs. Hungary? 3-3. There are no small nations anymore.”
The two countries have met 13 previous times on the international stage with Belgium winning eight of those matches to Hungary’s three. Belgium has also outscored Hungary 28-19 in those meetings.
Bovada has a line of +225 that Belgium will escape with a one-goal victory and +115 that they will record a shutout. The Belgians are also -245 favorites to take the victory in regulation and are +575 to advance with an extra time victory.
Hungary, however, has proven it can score goals as it had a tournament-leading six during the group stage.
Romelu Lukaku is a +130 favorite to score at any point of the match for Belgium and +325 net the game’s opening goal. Another line that offers good value from Bovada is Eden Hazard to score and Belgium pulling out the victory at +260.
The Hungarians will be led by striker Adam Szalai who is pegged by Bovada at +380 to score at any point of the match.
Expect a tight game — and most likely a scoreless first half — with Hungary narrowly getting past Belgium to advance to the final eight.
Pick: Hungary (+615)
