It's a "quiet" Tuesday night in the NBA. There are six games, but admittedly, they're not the most interesting matchups as many non-contending teams are in action. However, that doesn't mean the day doesn't lack betting opportunities. There's still that — and in fact, we're giving out three free NBA betting picks to get you through Tuesday. Unless the thought of making money doesn't interest you, keep on reading!
Against The Spread: Boston Celtics at Sacramento Kings
This is the marquee game of the day. That's almost laughable to say about any matchup involving the Kings, especially one in late March with the playoffs around the corner. But here we are as the Western Conference's two-seeded Sacramento is one of the league's best stories this season. Despite that, the best betting sites for NBA are pegging the Kings four-point underdogs on their home floor:
Team | |||
---|---|---|---|
Boston spread (-4) | -110 | -110 | -110 |
Sacramento spread (+4) | -110 | -110 | -110 |
Fatigue is going to be a huge factor in this contest. On one hand, you have Sacramento playing on a back-to-back. Not only that, but that first game on Monday was all the way in Utah. Traveling back home and playing again is a tough order. But it's not like Boston is well-rested either. This is the final game of their five-game road trip along the West, in which they're currently 2-2.
Honestly, the C's are slumping. On this road trip, they lost to a pair of bad teams (Houston and Utah), and barely edged another bad team (Minnesota) by a basket. This team has been off for a number of weeks now. Many point to the injury of rookie Robert Williams on March 3 (Boston has gone 4-5 since then). The Celtics are getting beat up on the boards without Williams.
For this reason, we're taking Sacramento to cover the spread. Heck, they might even win this game straight-up if you'd rather up the risk and take the moneyline bet. There's a serious shift going on with the Kings and an otherwise mundane March game means something extra to them — a chance to prove they're for real. Take the home-town team to defend their home court here.
Over/Under 218 Points: Cleveland Cavaliers at Brooklyn Nets
Oddsmakers are being extremely cautious with the Cavs-Nets over/under, which is barely at 218 points. That's the lowest total of the whole day by a whole 10 points. Here are your betting options in this wager:
Outcome | |||
---|---|---|---|
Over 218 points | -110 | -110 | -110 |
Under 218 points | -110 | -110 | -110 |
Both teams are fighting for playoff positioning among the top six seeds in the Eastern Conference. The Nets are currently in sixth, the last guaranteed seed that doesn't need a play-in game to qualify, and frankly speaking, Brooklyn has to be desperate. The Nets have dropped three games in a row, averaging just 101.7 points in that stretch, which probably explains why the over/under is so low. Since dealing away Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving at the trade deadline, Brooklyn is just 7-10.
We're inclined to bet the under here. That's because the Nets' struggles likely won't change against the number-one-rated defense, which the Cavaliers possess. There's just a void in talent in Brooklyn right now that'll make this an under no matter how many points Cleveland can score by themselves.
Against The Spread: Oklahoma City Thunder at Los Angeles Clippers
For our third and final pick of Tuesday, we have our attention squarely on the Thunder-Clippers spread. This matchup is a reunion of sorts with Russell Westbrook and Paul George playing their old team, as well as Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (who was traded for Paul way back). As it stands, Los Angeles are favored on the spread comfortably:
Team | |||
---|---|---|---|
LA Clippers spread (-6.5) | -110 | -110 | -110 |
Oklahoma City spread (+6.5) | -110 | -110 | -110 |
We're really going to see what the Thunder is made out of over the next week. This young, but ascending team is wrestling for a postseason spot. Tuesday's visit to Los Angeles is the first of a four-game road trip against conference rivals (the Lakers and Blazers are also on tap). If OKC is going to make a run, it has to start here (they play the Clippers again on Thursday).
We'll stop short of saying who wins, but we're betting it's a close game either way. In that event, the Thunder's underdog spread makes more sense to take. Both teams have a lot to play for so it might feel like a de-facto playoff game, which means more effort on both sides.
