NFL Week 6 Free Betting Picks

NFL Week 6 Free Betting Picks

COVID-19 continues to force the NFL to shuffle its playing season around. The show goes on with Week 6, which features one bettable opportunity after another. We look ahead to the playing week and offer our expert betting advice!

We're going to do our best to offer up NFL Week 6 free betting picks. There's always the chance a game once again gets delayed, but in its current slate, the upcoming NFL week is filled with juicy matchups such as:

  • Cleveland Browns at Pittsburgh Steelers (-3.5)
  • Green Bay Packers (-2.5) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
  • Los Angeles Rams (-3.5) at San Francisco 49ers
  • Kansas City Chiefs (-3) at Buffalo Bills

Online oddsmakers are hard at work, updating betting lines with every new piece of information about COVID-19 infections and subsequent, injury report listings. Keep that in mind since our listed lines may have changed since our publish time.

Regardless, here's five bets we believe you need to make ahead of NFL week 6:

Cleveland Browns at Pittsburgh Steelers (-3.5)

A lot of eyes on this one. For one, both clubs are scorching hot at a combined 8-1 mark. Two, last year's meeting ended in a controversial helmet club courtesy of Myles Garrett.

But you know what, we're not quite sold on Cleveland yet. Let's look at the teams they've accumulated wins over — Cincinnati, Washington, Dallas, and Indianapolis. Do you know what the record of those four teams is? An abysmal 7-12-1 total.

Look, the Browns are better than a year ago, but they still aren't in the Steelers class. Quitely so, Ben Roethlisberger has proven to be elite despite some of his peers — namely Tom Brady and Drew Brees — showing signs of decline. Big Ben has a 10-to-1 touchdown-to-interception ratio and a whopping 110.4 quarterback rating on the season. He'll lead the Steelers to a convincing win here.

Betting pick to make: Pittsburgh (-3.5)

Over/Under 43.5 Points: Washington Football Team at New York Giants

We get it, this matchup doesn't exactly pit the league's best signal-callers against each other. The Giants' Daniel Jones has an abysmal QB rating of 70.6. Whereas Kyle Allen is half-hurt and carries a pedestrian rating of 83.5 of his own.

Still, 43.5 points is a criminally low over/under on a year where scoring is at an all-time high pace. And it's not like either defense is particularly good. Up until now, Washington and New York rank 11th and 14th, respectively, in the bottom half of NFL scoring defenses.

If worse comes to worst, Jones and Allen will merely turn over the ball to create easy scoring chances for the opposing offense. If you haven't guessed our pick by now, bet the over!

Betting pick to make: Over 43.5 Points

Atlanta Falcons at Minnesota Vikings (-3.5)

Talk about the toilet bowl. These two teams are a combined 1-9 on the year. The Falcons just canned its head coach, Dann Quinn, while the Vikings' Mike Zimmer's seat gets hotter and hotter by the day. Somethings got to give in this one!

For us, that's a highly motivated Atlanta team showing up to play on the road. We've seen it a dozen times before — a franchise fires its coach mid-season, in turn, rejuvenating the team temporarily. It happened last week with the Texans and the same will transpire here in week 6.

Neither of these teams plays a lick of defense, either, so points may come in bunches. If you're looking for a parlay to make, pairing Atlanta's spread with the over of 55.5 points makes a lot of sense in this scenario

Betting pick to make: Atlanta (+3.5)

Over/Under 54.5 Points: Arizona Cardinals at Dallas Cowboys

The big story here is that Dallas will be without Dak Prescott, who suffered a gruesome ankle injury in week 5. Replacing the franchise quarterback is one Andy Dalton — yes, he plays for the "boys" now.

While Dalton marched the Cowboys to victory against a lowly Giants team, we don't expect him to replicate that success against a much-superior Cardinals team. A shortened offseason probably doesn't help Dalton come in right away and get this offense clicking.

Of course, the Cards' Kyle Murray is the complete anti-thesis of Dalton. He's absolutely lit up the NFL through five weeks and now faces a defense allowing an NFL-high in points (36 per game). Despite his brilliance, he alone can't make up for Dalton's offensive shortcomings. The under isn't a sexy pick to make, but it's the right one here.

Betting pick to make: Under 54.5 Points

Bonus Bet: Denver Broncos at New England Patriots (-9)

Once again, the Patriots are embroiled in league controversy. Nope, no cheating this time around. Instead, it's the COVID-19 epicenter with game postponements in back-to-back weeks now.

At last, New England is expected back on the field this coming Sunday. But you have to believe they'll be distracted. Its team facility has been shut down on three different occasions in the past two weeks. A less-than-prepared Bill Bellicheck team just doesn't deserve a nine-point spread — no matter if it's against a 1-3 Broncos team. In a sloppy game, we expect Denver to at least keep the game close.

Betting pick to make: Denver Broncos (+9)
