Can you believe we’re almost halfway into the 2023 NFL season? The opportunity to profit from NFL betting is flying fast but we have a killer chance this week. Here are three of the best bets NFL Week 8 has to offer!
- What: NFL Week 8
- When: Thursday, October 26 - Monday, 30
Against The Spread: New England Patriots at Miami Dolphins
At 9.5 points, the Dolphins-Patriots spread is the most lopsided of Week 9. For that reason, we felt compelled to bet on this one. The line might move, but here’s how the best NFL betting sites have it pegged right now:
Team | |||
---|---|---|---|
Miami spread (-9.5) | -110 | -110 | -110 |
New England spread (+9.5) | -110 | -110 | -110 |
These two teams met up a month and a half ago. The earlier meeting ended 24-17 in favor of Miami. With Tua Tagovailoa at the helm, the Dolphins seem to have the Pats’ number. Tua is 5-0 against Bill Belichick. By that alone, plus the records of both sides — New England is 2-5 and Miami is 5-2 — we get why the line is almost double digits. Still, we think it’s mispriced.
This is a divisional game, after all. These matchups are hardly ever blowouts, especially when they involve these two teams. You’d have to go back to 2020 to find the last time a Phins-Pats game ended in a 10-point margin. We’re betting it doesn’t happen here either therefore New England is the pick to make.
The Patriots are riding high after a five-point victory over the Bills, a team that smoked Miami earlier this season. The upset was keyed by a retooled offense. Quarterback Mac Jones is still under center, but Belichick gave more reps to his speedy receivers (Kendrick Bourne and Demario Douglas) versus Buffalo. It paid off with a more quick-striking offense that played with space.
Obviously, the Dolphins define that type of offensive playing style with their own speed demons. Still, we’re betting Belichick can contain them. Historically, Tyreek Hill has been kept in check by Belichick-coached teams, and this dates to his time in Kansas City.
Moneyline: Los Angeles Rams at Dallas Cowboys
Dallas had Week 7 off with a bye. That means they had an extra week to prepare for its Week 8 matchup against Los Angeles. That, along with its home-field advantage, explains why the Cowboys are comfortable moneyline favorites over the Rams. Here’s where the odds stand for both teams:
Team | |||
---|---|---|---|
Dallas | -275 | -275 | -275 |
Los Angeles | +225 | +225 | +225 |
To us, the risk-reward ratio on the LA moneyline is simply too good to pass up. You see, the Rams have been consistently inconsistent this season with a 3-4 mark. However, they seem to play up to their competition and no doubt about it, going on the road against a well-rested Dallas team is a challenge. But something tells us the Rams can and very well might pull off the upset.
A big reason why is the quarterback play. We’re more confident in Matt Stafford to show up in key moments than Dak Prescott. We’re also more confident in the Rams’ weapons, that being Cooper Kupp and Puka Nauca, to make game-changing plays to swing the outcome. This Cowboys’ defense is good, but somewhat overrated. This all leads us to put a fly bet on LA’s moneyline — not a huge Rams' bet, we’d say, but at these odds, you don’t need to stake much to come up very profitable anyway.
Over/Under 44 Points: Baltimore Ravens at Arizona Cardinals
We had to give love to over/under bettors. Out of all the Week 8 games, the over/under on Baltimore and Arizona caught our attention. The line is set at 44 points, as seen below:
Outcome | |||
---|---|---|---|
Over 44 points | -110 | -110 | -110 |
Under 44 points | -110 | -110 | -110 |
We won’t mince words here and say we’re hammering the over. Hammering! Our confidence stems from how the Ravens offense played this past Sunday against a playoff team in Detroit. Baltimore beat the brakes off of ‘em to the tune of 38 points. The performance is more impressive when you go deeper into it.
You see, the Lions had the number-one-ranked rushing defense going into the contest (allowing 64.7 yards per game before Week 7). Welp, the Ravens gashed them for 146 yards. Yet, it was their passing game that really blew open the game. Lamar Jackson had a brilliant performance, throwing for 357 yards and three scores. If Baltimore could do that against a team some considered Super Bowl contenders, then surely they can carry it over against a struggling Cardinals team.
Arizona has lost four straight games by double digits. The question is, what will its offensive output look like? Kyler Murray is nearing a return but Josh Dobbs will remain under center in Week 8. Knowing he’s losing his job soon, we expect Dobbs to “go for broke.” By that mean be more aggressive since he has nothing to lose anyway. All things considered, take the over in this one.
