How To Make Money Betting On Burnley
Will people finally leave Burnley off the relegation radar? Probably not this year anyway. They showed glimpses of what they're capable of in the 2016-17 season, but will need to be just as good - if not better - to once again avoid the relegation dogfight.
Burnley can thank their prosperous home record for their current Premier League status. Able to avoid the drop zone all season, Burnley had the league's ninth best home record. Only Leicester and Everton - outside of the usual suspects, Manchester United, Liverpool, Tottenham, Arsenal, Manchester City, Chelsea - had better records while playing in friendly confines.
The Clarets home record was accentuated by losing only six of 19 games. They conceded only 20 goals, just over one per match and were expected to come away with at least a point every time they played in front of the Turf Moor faithful.
However, as Ying and Yang so often predicates, something had to give. And that was the club's terrible away record. It was so bad they were almost dragged into the relegation battle toward the tail end of the 2016-7 campaign.
Only Hull City had a worse away record. Burnley gained seven of a possible 57 points in enemy territory. They scored 13 away goals in 19 matches, the third fewest in the league. Burnley must find a way to improve on the road or they will most certainly be relegated. They cannot expect to be as prolific at home in coming seasons, and don't want the kind of stress that accompanies that aspirational record. If Burnley don't improve their away record, they'll most likely be one of the three teams confined to relegation.
Look to back the under in most Burnley matches, particularly when they're at home. They rarely concede goals at Turf Moor and don't have the offensive weapons to open the floodgates.
