UFC has made it an annual tradition to end the calendar year with a jam-packed fight card and 2018 is no different with UFC 232. Jon Jones makes his highly-anticipated return to the octagon against Alexander Gustafsson, while Cris Cyborg and Amanda Nunes also collide. We have an in-depth preview of the UFC 232 and betting predictions!

In the words of UFC announcer Bruce Buffer, "IT'S TIME" to make betting picks!
Main Event
By now, Jones is no stranger to a comeback story. However, his latest — after a 15-month suspension due to a failed drug test — might be his most surprising. Most people wrote him off after the debacle, nevermind that he's never lost a legitimate fight in his career (the only blemish on his 22-1 record was a terribly-called disqualification).
While most are calling Gustafsson a tune-up, he doesn't exactly fit that bill, either. This will be his second go at Jones. In the first duel in 2013, Gustafsson won the first two rounds on all but one of the judge's scorecards, before Jones mounted his comeback in the final three.
Nonetheless, Jones is the clear choice despite the long layoff. Disregarding the troubles outside the cage, no UFC fighter has dominated more inside the octagon than Jones. Ever.
Pick: Jon Jones (-285)
Champion vs. Champion
Folks, this is what you call a superfight. Both Cyborg and Nunes are without a doubt the one and two best pound-for-pound fighters in the women's division (and perhaps of all-time, too). Moreover, this is the first time UFC has promoted a champion vs. champion showdown. Only Cyborg's featherweight title will be on the line, but Nunes does hold the bantamweight strap, as well.
You'd think both Brazilians would lean on jiu-jitsu, but that's far from the case. Instead, the two are knockout specialists, which makes the knockout prop a very attractive wagering option. Hint: bet yes, it'll end in KO.
That victory should go to Cyborg. Like Jones, her career in MMA is nearly untouchable. After dropping her first career fight, Cyborg has claimed 20 straight victories — all but three coming from knockout. She's very much the GOAT of her sport, which is hard to bet against.
Plus, don't underestimate Nunes move up ten pounds to make featherweight. That's a big change for a 135-pounder and it could unravel her, especially as the fight wears on.
Pick: Cris Cyborg (-260)

Bonus Bet
The uninformed bettor is easily swayed by star power. If it's a bout between two fighters, only one of which the bettor has actually heard of, they're probably putting money on them. That's what the majority will do between the Mendes-Volkanovski battle. Heed our advice, don't be one of them.
Mendes has built a name for himself after big-money fights against Jose Aldo (twice), Connor McGregor, and Frankie Edgar — all of which he lost, by the way. However, he's washed at this point. The 33-year-old has lost three of his past four, and even then, doesn't really have a signature win on his resume.
Volkanovski is an emerging fighter out of Australia and a victory at UFC 232 should shoot him up to main-event status where he belongs. Don't buy the hype and bet Volkanovski here.
Pick: Volkanovski (+125)
