UFC 240 Fight Card Betting Picks
Edmonton, Canada — the sight of UFC 240 — will be treated to two of the game’s most-dominant fighters, Max Holloway and Cris Cyborg. Both headline an action-packed card and we have a complete betting guide to it all with the latest lines, tips, and picks!
On the cusp of UFC 240, online sportsbooks currently have the odds heavy lopsided on the card's two headlining bouts. Here's how the UFC 240 odds are shaking out:
- Max Holloway (-400) vs. Frankie Edgar (+300)
- Cris Cyborg (-600) vs. Felicia Spencer (+400)
The action kicks off on Saturday, July 27 inside the Rogers Place. As always, ESPN+ will have exclusive streaming rights for those that want to watch. The main card starts at 10 pm EST sharp. Without further ado, let's dig deeper into the UFC betting odds!
Holloway Defends Featherweight Belt
Despite a unanimous decision defeat at the hands of Dustin Poirier back in April, we're not down at all on Holloway. He simply bit off more than he could chew by moving up to lightweight to face off Poirier, losing to him for the second time in his career.
This championship bout against Edgar puts Holloway back in his element at 145 pounds. At featherweight, Holloway went on one of the greatest tears we've ever seen in UFC history. He racked up 13 straight wins, including beatdowns of Anthony Pettis, Jose Aldo (twice), and Brian Ortega.
Oddly enough, Edgar's last three defeats have come against Holloway's former foes — losing twice to Aldo and Ortega last year. Edgar fought once since that Ortega loss, defeating Cub Swanson over a year ago. How that earned him a title shot is beyond us.
Anyway, we see Holloway picking back up where he left off. Per usual, he'll adapt to whatever the older and slower Edgar throws at him. Holloway has routinely won matches in an array of ways and this will be no different. At just 27 years young, he'll show up the octagon in better form than ever and stop Edgar.
Betting pick: Holloway (-400)
How Does Cybord Rebound After A Loss?
What's to make of Cristiane "Cyborg" Justino's first-round loss to Amanda Nunes? Is it a sign of Cyborg's slipping talents at 34 years of age?
Or was it just Nunes being Nunes — the best UFC fighter of all time. Well, we're going to find out against Spencer, the undefeated but unproven up-and-comer.
The fight, contested at featherweight, will pit two opposing styles against each other. Cyborg is one of the most dominant strikers this sport has ever seen, guy or girl.
Before here defeat to Nunes, she was enjoying a 21-fight unbeaten strike that included 17 knockout wins.
Spencer is the great unknown. She carved out a name for herself in Invicta FC before winning her UFC debut just two months ago. The 28-year-old does have a strong grappling game, though. Each of her past three victories has come in the form of submission, thanks to a deadly rear-naked chokehold.
The issue Spencer will run into is Cyborg isn't easy to take down to the mat. Perhaps the punishment she took against Nunes has damaged her psyche, but we haven't lost confidence in her.
A win against Spencer all but sets up a rematch against Nunes for the featherweight title. After being embarrassed by Nunes, we expect Cyborg to take on a new life and end this one early. Go ahead and take her UFC odds!
Betting Pick: Cyborg (-600)
Other UFC Betting Picks
Geoff Neal (-270) vs. Niko Price (+210)
A slugfest is practically guaranteed between these two lightweights.
The favored Neal is a standup striker, with six of his 11 career wins coming via knockout. With a Brazilian jiu-jitsu background, Price is more of a well-rounded fighter. While not as precise of a puncher as Neal, when he does land a strike, they hurt. He’s ended 9 of 13 career wins early via stoppage.
Both enter Saturday with a lot of momentum, but we think Price is riding slightly higher. He KO’d Tim Means — a man that’d never lost by knockdown in 40 fights before — back in April. Price isn’t a one-trick pony like Neal, and that spells upset to us.
Betting pick: Niko Price (+210)
Arman Tsarukyan (-240) vs. Olivier Aubin-Mercier (+190)
Like Cyborg and Holloway, this is a rebound fight for Tsarukyan. He had strung together 12 consecutive wins before tasting defeat in his UFC debut three months ago. If this fight stays standing up, Tsarukyan has a clear advantage.
If it goes the ground, things suddenly swing in Aubin-Mercier’s favor. We’re picking Tsarukyan because he rarely puts himself in a vulnerable position. By dictating the bout, he’ll start the night’s trend of bounce-back victories for recently-defeated fighters.
Betting pick: Arman Tsarukyan (-240).
Krzysztof Jotko (-175) vs. Marc-Andre Barriault (+145)
Betting-wise, this is the closest matchup of the night. Both are desperate for a win, but Barriault needs it a little more.
He too lost his UFC debut, but a matchup against a consistently inconsistent Jotko is a shot at redemption.
Jotko has fought four times since 2016, losing three of them. We’re not about to back that rough stretch.
Now that you know what to do, there's only one thing left — actually throwing down some money.
