Jon Jones (-450) vs. Dominick Reyes (+325)
No UFC fighter has ever dominated a weight class quite as Jones has at light heavyweight. He's up to 19 career UFC wins in the division — with six of those coming against former title-holders. That sheer dominance has led to rumors about Jones turning his sights to champions from other divisions, with Stipe Miocic and Israel Adesanya being thrown around most.
If Reyes is to pull off the unbelievable upset come the February 8 fight card, it's because Jones overlooks him — that's it. Because in the octagon, Jones is the far superior fighter in every aspect.
Reyes, despite his No. 4 ranking in the weight class, is still largely unproven. Sure, he's undefeated, but only one of those wins has come at the expense of a top-15 fighter. Jones, arguably the best pound-for-pound fighter in UFC history, will be a huge step up in competition for Reyes.
Per usual, Jones will leverage his ungodly 84-inch reach to outclass Reyes completely. The no-brainer bet to make here is on Jones.
Betting pick: Jones (-450)
Valentina Shevchenko (-1400) vs. Katlyn Chookaigan (+750)
You'll be hard-pressed to find more staggering odds for a UFC semi-event than this one.
Shevchenko is the overwhelming favorite and for good reason. Aside from two losses against Amanda Nunes, she's 7-0 since entering the UFC. While there's no such thing as moral wins in fighting, Shevchenko has been Nunes — the sport's best-ever women competitor — strongest adversary, going the distance in both matchups.
We believe Shevchenko runs away with this fight. A win from her all but sets up a trilogy bout against Nunes, which surely would have closer fight odds than this one.
Betting pick: Shevchenko (-1400)
Juan Adams (-230) vs. Justin Tafa (+180)
This one feels like a complete crapshoot. Both these heavyweights have struggled since joining the UFC. Adams won his first bout but has lost back-to-back bouts since, including to ex-NFL star Greg Hardy. Tafa also came up empty in his promotional debut at UFC 243 — in his home country of Australia, no less.
But we can't help but overlook the Adams' loss to Hardy. How are you going to lose to a guy that's barely trained for your sport a year or two? Yikes! Pick Tafa to pull off the victory here.
Betting pick: Tafa (+180)
